Blue (outfit post)/ Plavo (odjevna kombinacija)

Amos Oz said that when he was a child he didn't aspire to be a writer, he wanted to be a book. (books seemed to him less fragile than us humans, he said something in that sense.) I, on the other hand, could say that I wanted to a story.

Stories always fascinated me, written down or told, it didn't seem to matter...I think that might just well explain my fascination with vintage clothes. I love the stories that come with them. Sometimes, you don't know the story, as when you buy clothes at a second hand or vintage shop, but the story is nevertheless there. I think that there sense of history is what makes vintages clothes so attractive.

I've always been fascinated with history, which in some sense can also be seen as a story. A story about things that have passed. The history of fashion is indeed very interesting. I remember reading one book about it and was surprised to see that in the time of ancient Egyptians female formal attire meant going topless.  Imagine showing up for formal dinner today in topless. Anyway, Egyptians ladies used to have these beautiful dresses (or better to say high waist skirts) but nothing to cover the bra area. Interesting, right?

Vintage can be defined in many ways. Simply said, it means second hand clothes from previous era, so in some sense perhaps even 90ties are vintage (isn't that kind of scary?time flies, right?). However, many people when they say vintage clothes think about clothes from the 20ties, 30ties, 40 ties and 50ties. I don't own any clothes older than 60ties (perhaps just one of two items inherited from the granny), I don't think there are any shops here that sell that kind of vintage but if there were I would pay them a visit.

Today for a change, I'm actually posting a look that I have worn today. (This morning to be more precise). I went for a swim at this place you can see in the photohgraphs (in the vicinity of Mostar). As far as the clothes goes,  everything (but the brand new flip flops) is inherited from mum, which means probably 80ties.

What do you think about vintage clothes? Do you like them? Where do you shop for them?

Povijest me uvijek zanimala, a i nju možemo gledati kao skup priča.

No, mnogi ljudi pod ovim izrazom podrazumljevaju odjeću iz 20tih, 30tih, 40tih i 50tih.

  3. This place looks absolutely beautiful, but I truly enjoyed reading your post. I've never looked at vintage clothes as stories, but really just a throwback, or homage to yester years. But now that I think about, it would be amazing to explore where a piece came from. Who wore it? How did it end up here? You've kind of changed my perception on that :)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.
