Details from my home (Easter edition) / Detalji iz moga doma ( Uskršnje izdanje)

Details from my home is not a very frequent feature on my blog (for a number of reasons). For one, the decor in my home doesn't change that often. Moreover, I often include photographs from my home when I do book reviews or when my publish my art. So, you see bits of my home anyway. However, this Easter I did some home made decorations so it seems like a good idea to share them here. In addition, I wanted to show you how I decorated my Easter eggs this year. I tried many different techniques but my favourite one is a traditional one. This traditional technique  consist from decorating the eggs with plants ( the eggs are placed in a pair of tights to secure the plants in place) and then cooking the eggs in onion peels so you get this (in my opinion) absolutely gorgeous colour. If you want to see the results of this traditional method, scroll down.

If you want to see my previous post from this (Details from my home) feature you can check them out here, here  , here and here.

DIY PROJECT OF THE DAY:

How to refresh an old basket?

My husband wanted to throw this old basket into garbage, but I decided to turn it into something useful. So, I painted it  white acrylic colours and used it as a piece of decor for this Easter. I don't plan to get rid of it. I'm sure I'll manage to find some good usage for it in my new home.  When it comes to seasonal decor, I think it's always a good idea to try to incorporate it into our homes.

NAPRAVI SAM PROJEKT DANA

DIY of the day

How much seasonal decor is enough?

You really don't need to have tons of seasonal decor. Sometimes a few small things are enough. The trick is in knowing to work with what you already have. However, there is nothing wrong in having tons of seasonal decorations if that is something you truly enjoy. Some people are very enthusiastic when it comes to seasonal decor and I actually think that's very sweet. Still, you shouldn't feel pressured to be one of those people. When it comes to decorating your own home, you should really think about what makes you happy. It's your home, you know. You don't have to put out a single Easter/Christmas/whatever decoration if that is just not your thing.

Today I've been thinking about love....Danas sam razmišljala o ljubavi....

Today I've been thinking about love a lot. I've been thinking how it is probably the most misused word ever.  It is highly probably that all of us misused it at least a number of times. We use this word when we feel that we're entitled to something or someone. We use this word when we want to say that something or someone makes us feel good. We use it to say we need or want something or someone. We use it all the wrong ways sometimes. Perhaps that's how it must be until we learn to use it the right way. Sometimes love is the wrong word to use, but at times it might be the only thing we got.  Love is a word that has its own power. People respond to it. All the same, it is a tricky word to use. Using this word can sometimes mean you're taking the easier way. Preciously because there is magic in this word, it can backfire. You might say that there are many kinds of love and that is certainly true. Still, that doesn't change the fact that word love is often used as a tool of emotional manipulation.

Something tells me that we don't use 'love' that often to express the fact that our very being is intricately connected with another human being. That our personal happiness may depend entirely on somebody's else happiness. Why don't we? Perhaps because it is a scary thing to admit. For what it means to truly love? One of my favourite authors (that would be Robert A. Heinlein) gave his definition of it, and I always held it near my heart: love is a condition is which another person happiness is essential to your own. It sounds drastic, but I think it's as close to the truth as anyone got. I think that at its core, love is a pretty radical and drastic feeling. Love may be the most used and perhaps even the most misused word ever, but funny thing is...when someone loves us, we know it. It is obvious. Words are not needed. Deep down we know whether we're loved or not.

How to wear big puffed sleeves? / Kako nositi velike napuhane rukave?

How to wear big puffed sleeves without looking like a Disney princess? Not that there is anything wrong with looking like a Disney princess, but maybe you have been wondering how to wear dramatically puffed sleeves on everyday basis. Actually, I've been asking myself the same question. I'm very keen on this trend of oversize sleeves, but figuring out how to wear them in a casual way proved to be something of a challenge. When I bought this dress ( I'm not very keen of shopping, but when I saw this one I just had to have it), the answer presented itself. Denim. Yes, denim. That magical ingredient that instantly makes every outfit look more casual. Nothing helps dress down a look than a piece of denim, be it a pair of jeans (or jeggings in this case) or a denim vest.

I knew that this dress won't be long enough for my liking when I bought it, but I figured that I can wear it with jeans...and what you know, it looks great worn with jeggings. It looks like I found my puffed sleeves item for this Spring. Now, that I think of it, I also have one vintage blouse with puffed sleeves. You can see how I styled it with jeans here. What do you think about this Spring/ Summer trend? Do you fancy dramatic sleeves? Will this trend find its way to you closet? Do you like this trend of voluminous sleeves?  Let me know in the comments. One more thing...the location is once again restaurant/motel Kolo located on the banks of Buna river. My happy place.

Sada kada razmislim, imam jednu vintage bluzu s napuhanim rukavima. Možete vidjeti kako sam je nosila ovdje.  Što vi mislite o ovom proljetno-ljetnom trendu? Sviđaju li vam se ovakvi dramatični rukavi? Hoće li ovaj trend pronaći put u vaš ormar? Volite li ovaj trend rukava velikoga volumena? Dajte mi do znanja u komentarima. Moje sretno mjesto.
