Split trough my eyes (photography post)---Split mojim očima (fotografije)

Konačno sam bila u Splitu, dan je bio savršen, sunčan i topao...a ja nemam uz sebe fotoaparat. Okrutni, okrutni živote! Morao je poslužiti prastari moj, koji valjda ima manje piksela od moga mobitela (ali ja ne znam prebacivati slike sa mobitela)...čudi me da više i radi.












Some of the pics I have taken yesterday, and like today it was a very sunny and warm day in Split.  You could hardly guess it is this time of year, the winter being almost here. It's surreal feeling walking by the sea, some people are in speedos (the brave ones or the athletic ones) and some in long coats (like myself). I didn't have my best cam with me, but the day was so lovely I had to take photos.

    I was reading about your city in Wikipedia, and I didn't know that its so big and ancient! It also looks gorgeous on your photographs, the architecture is just wonderful)
    I love such sunny weather and when I'm going out I always try to take a camera with me)

    Vidim imala si sreće bio je divan sunčan dan. I šta pričaš za fotke, odnosno za stari fotić, pa većina fotki se ne bi posramila da završi na razglednicama ;)

SPRING IN SPLIT : 3 OUTFITS, ONE WORN FOR AN ART EXHIBITION

Hello! Spring break is officially over for me. Today was my second day back at work and I'm exhausted. The first day was fun, we've all happy to see one another again and all that, but the second day tired me out. The end of the week is far away, too. It takes time to get used to working from 7 to 5 again.  I divided my Spring break between my favourite three places and two countries:  island Hvar & Split (in Croatia) and Mostar (in Bosnia and Herzegovina). I visited an art exhibition and that was fun, too. The art exhibition was by Croatian illustrator Filip Čulić. The exhibition included his illustrations and comic book art. It's open until the end of April, so if you're in Split, check it out (more information here ). I love Split's city library. They always organize fun stuff. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. Nature Park Blidinje hides a gem of great beauty: magical lake Blidinje. In the presence of this lake, I found myself overwhelmed by a feeling of complete calmness, perhaps for the first time in many days. Enchanted by its beauty, I walked into the lake. If you spent each day on a different Croatian island, it would take you three years to visit them all, as there are more than a 1, 200 islands in Croatia. This lake you see is artificial in origin but that doesn't make it less impressive.  If you ever visit Mostar, I recommend you visit this lake. It is situated in the vicinity of the city. Peaceful and serene atmosphere, birds and other animals to observe, beautiful nature, magnificent mountain views.... ...what is there not to love? Hello and welcome to another feature of 'Sights to see, Places to Visit'. It's been a while since my last one. Anyway, today I'm taking you to Ston, a small but fascinating city in vicinity of Dubrovnik. Ston is both a city and the name of a municipality that consists of a number of small villages, including Mali Ston ( meaning Little Ston) that is located in immediate vicinity. One could even say that it is connected with this city.  Ston is mainly known for its famous Walls, also known as the European Wall of China. Originally more than 7 km long, the Walls of Ston surround the Ston city and were (as you might guess) build to protect the city. Why the city needed so much protection, you might ask?
